We are invited by STATE Festival to contribute to the Berlin Lab in LA. The event is is a program part of the Berlin Lab, the central hub of the 50y sister city celebrations.
On Oct 5 at 4:30pm we will be talking about “Urban Creativity” and how Los Angeles and Berlin provide unique environments in their own rights as urban playgrounds and breeding grounds for experimental new ideas in culture and society. As part of this conversation, we will look at the history of both cities, the present situation and talk about ideas for the future. I feel very honored and lucky that it was possible to convince all of you to take part in this conversation and I am very much looking forward to your contributions.

This year, the city of Berlin together with be Berlin, its state official signet, is coming to Los Angeles to celebrate the 50th anniversary as sister cities with the launch of ‘Berlin Lab’, an event series offering both destinations a platform for exchange about freedom and creativity (#FreiheitBerlinLA).
Encompassing a variety of cultural activities, ‘Berlin Lab’ – a two-day festival – will be held at LOT 613 in the Downtown LA Arts District on October 4th and 5th. ‘Berlin Lab’ is an immersive experience that celebrates the lineage and synergy between the sister cities with a unique cross-metropolis exchange, five decades in the making.
Boasting free entry, Berlin’s two-day festival will offer an authentic taste of Berlin’s emerging tech, art, music, and food scenes in the heart of Los Angeles. Programming includes a robust schedule of cultural panels, workshops, a performance by The Flying Steps, live concerts by L.A. born Berlin transplant Simonne Jones and fellow Berlin resident Black Cracker, and DJ sets by Anne Litt (KCRW, with Native Instruments), Mary Droppinz, Zøraya (Dublab) and Nine Inch Nilina (with Your Mom’s Agency). Native Instruments will host an interactive music station, where lovers of music can try out the companies’ product. Street art by Die Dixons, an evening programmed by Europe´s largest interdisciplinary technology festival from Berlin, TOA WorldTour (Tech Open Air Conference), and a design symposium commemorating 100 years of the Bauhausmovement. STATE FESTIVAL will present a panel on Urban Creativity Berlin / Los Angeles. Investigating the origins of curiosity, Veronika Natter’s photo exhibition highlights the personalities behind STATE Festival’s Curious Minds Network and emphasizes how curiosity naturally leads to inspiration. A community event called Lange Tafel will take place on Thursday and invite the public to an open space for food, art, and exchange. The night will be officially kicked off by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller.
